Storm Babet: Environment Secretary visits affected towns amid further flood alerts
More flooding could hit the UK this week after heavy downpours from Storm Babet left hundreds of properties submerged - with icy conditions on the way.
The Environment Agency said more flood alerts are expected for the worst-affected areas - despite severe flood warnings, which mean a risk of death or serious injury, being lifted.
Environment Secretary Therese Coffey said officials are in touch with insurer companies to help affected households "get back into their homes as quickly as possible"

Lucy Rose, a resident in flood-hit Retford whose home was damaged by Storm Babet, has told the environment secretary her home is "not a home anymore, it's a shell", during her visit to the town.
Ms Rose told Sky News "there was no real reason" for Therese Coffey to be in Retford and discussed the damage to her house and what lies ahead.

The Environment Secretary's speech at the CLA Conference outlining his vision for farming in England
Environment Secretary George Eustice sets out his vision for farming, outlining opportunities to enhance profitable agricultural production and increase food security, alongside delivering on environmental priorities to tackle biodiversity loss and climate change.
The Environment Secretary also shared further details of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) – the first of the new environmental land management schemes – which will be rolled out next year. The new scheme will allow farmers to choose the elements of the scheme that work for them.

After Ms Maskell (York Central) highlighted efforts to boost donation supplies, Ms Coffey replied: “(Ms Maskell) is right to praise the initiative in York with her constituents and I think that’s very welcome. It is an element of what also can be done locally.

Environment Secretary George Eustice sets out his vision for farming, outlining opportunities to enhance profitable agricultural production and increase food security, alongside delivering on environmental priorities to tackle biodiversity loss and climate change.
The Environment Secretary also shared further details of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) – the first of the new environmental land management schemes – which will be rolled out next year. The new scheme will allow farmers to choose the elements of the scheme that work for them.
